The most modern steelmaking and rolling technology for Special Bar Quality products in the world will be installed in Mexico.
The investment is a positive sign for Mexico's steel sector, which is under pressure from weak prices linked to surplus capacity in China.
It will have capacity of 600,000 t/y special steel, ranging from large diameter round bars to wire rod.
The facility will be located close to an existing 400,000 t/y SBQ plant, which makes products primarily for the automotive, energy and capital goods sectors.
The facility boasts specialized world-class technology including automation equipment that assists in producing high-quality steel grades to guarantee a globally competitive production cost.
SEA supplied two HV/MV substation transformers that have been already assembled and tested on site and under the energization phase.
